Ashtanga vinyasa primary series

The ashtanga vinyasa primary series is called “yoga chikitsa” Meaning yoga therapy. The sequence of the ashtanga vinyasa yoga taught by pattabhi jois. The ashtanga vinyasa primary series is the first and base of all six sequences. Primary series have cleansing and toning and therapeutic effect on both body and mind. It takes 1 and half hour to 2 hours to complete primary series. This series is ideally the first that student must learn in Ashtanga vinyasa yoga. It is a foundation practice improving strength and awareness.

  1. Samasthiti.( standing still).
  2. The practice of ashtanga vinyasa series starts with opening mantra.

वंदे गुरूणां चरणारविन्दे सन्दर्शितस्वात्मसुखावबोधे । 
निःश्रेयसे जाङ्गलिकायमाने संसारहालाहलमोहशान्त्यै ॥ 
आबाहुपुरुषाकारं शङ्खचक्रसिधारिणम्। 
सहस्रशिरसं श्वेतं प्रणमामि पतंजलिम् ॥

  8. Triang Mukha ekpada Paschimattanasana.
  9. Janu sirsasana A,B,C.

  14. Supta kurmasana.

There all are the ashtanga vinyasa primary series asanas. It is one of the toughest style of yoga. If you are a beginner dont rush to the asanas but try to understand it.
